Asking what the term ‘wellness’ really means in today’s climate, founders Mary Minas and Freya Berwick of Melbourne-based contemporary bathhouse and spa Sense Of Self are bringing the centuries-old art of bathing and healing under a modern lens.

Facilitating energy transformation via the practice of soaking, massage, and body acceptance programs, SOS clients are encouraged to strip away any preconceived ideas of beauty and performance-led exercises, and, instead, focus on creating a deep and healthy connection to themselves and to others. In a time when we need communion more than ever, Mary and Freya's main drive is to bring people together again.

You might recognise Mekdela Maskal from our beautiful recent campaign imagery. But modelling is just one part of the wide-ranging work this intelligent and generous-spirited woman does.

A trained journalist, she has worked with Open Newsrooms to help local communities understand and participate in the news process more effectively, and is the Engagement Editor for Covering Climate Now, which works to increase and improve climate change journalism. One aspect of her work that drew our particular interest is in the little-understood realm of food justice – or food apartheid, as it’s increasingly being called.

Kristin Dickson-Okuda has built her creative language from acknowledging an experience’s essence and then making it tangible. This process of design results in Kristin’s brand clothing line Rowena Sartin, and her husband Shin’s furniture project WAKA WAKA, both of which are housed in their Los Angeles-based concept space Iko Iko (Japanese for ‘let’s go!’). And as one would imagine, the energy of such sentiment is laden across all that they create.

For years we have admired Kristin’s approach to concept and construction, creating pieces for the body and home that encourage connection. Becoming a mother has further clarified this vision. Kristin's work is deliberate and bold, unveiled by ego and determined to gently answer some of life’s little questions.
