10 mins prep, 20 mins cook
Ingredients
- Turmeric Fresh, 125 grams [or powdered]
- Ginger Fresh, 20 grams
- Raw Honey [Mānuka for an extra microbial kick], 1-2 tablespoons [or more to taste]
- Lemon or Lime, 2 tablespoons [or more to taste]
- Pinch of black pepper
- Water [or Coconut Water], 4 cups
Method
Clean and slice fresh turmeric and ginger into thin pieces.
Blend turmeric, ginger, black pepper and water until smooth. Pepper increases the bioavailability of curcumin, the active ingredient in turmeric.
Pour mixture into a pot and simmer for 20minutes allowing the health-promoting compounds to be released.
Mix in lemon juice and raw honey to taste.
Leave to cool before straining the mixture in the a glass bottle to refrigerate.
Enjoy a small glass of this health-promoting elixir first thing in the morning as a natural detoxifier and to gently aide digestion.
