Good hair should be easy. It should be wake up, shake out, and smooth some product through [if you’re feeling fancy].

At Sans, that’s our belief. To us, good hair is healthy hair; strong, resilient and low maintenance. Not the result of a 12-step routine, but of a simple, balanced one.

So how do you achieve it? We’ve compiled some of our key tips for maintaining healthy, naturally beautiful hair.

Treat Hair Like Skincare

Cleanse, moisturise, and protect -- this ritual works for your scalp and strands too.

1. Cleanse

Choose a gentle, nourishing shampoo that doesn’t strip natural oils, such as Balancing Hair Wash or Perpetual Hair Cleanser.

We recommend double cleansing for best results. The first cleanse removes buildup and surface residue; the second allows the formula to interact directly with the hair fibre, creating a rich lather and a more thorough clean.

Over-washing can strip the scalp and lead to dryness, so reduce your wash frequency where possible — your hair will thank you.

2. Moisturise

Just as your skin needs lipids to stay hydrated and smooth, your hair does too. Lipids — your body’s natural oils — form within the hair follicle and are essential for waterproofing, shine, and softness.

Colouring, heat styling, harsh shampoos, or simply ageing can deplete these lipids, leaving hair dull and brittle.

Restore them with a lipid-rich conditioner such as Nourishing Hair Hydratant Ultra+, which contains four times the active ingredients of most conditioners, or Perpetual Hair Conditioner, designed to help lipids stay bonded to the hair for lasting hydration.

3. Protect

The final step is about sealing in all that goodness.

Before rinsing out your conditioner, spray pH + Shine Corrector through your hair [around 15–20 pumps] then work it through with your fingers or a comb for a few minutes before rinsing everything out.

This step smooths the cuticle and restores your hair’s natural pH [between 4.5 and 5.5]. While our bodies thrive in an alkaline environment, hair prefers an acidic one. When that balance is disrupted, hair becomes porous, frizzy, and prone to breakage or colour fade.

By rebalancing pH, you lock in nutrients, prevent dryness, and help protect against scalp irritation and dandruff.

Embrace Natural Texture

Our founder, Lucy Vincent, always says the best styling trick is to wash your hair in the evening, then sleep on it.

This allows your natural texture to form without interference from wind, heat or handling.

When you wake up it, shake into shape, sans the frizz.

For curly or frizz-prone hair, avoid running your hands through strands in an effort to tame them. This only breaks up the curl pattern and creates more frizz. Instead, let the hair dry undisturbed, and embrace its natural form.
