The Coven Collection — Autumn, Ngahuru

Sans Woman
10 - 03 - 26

Representing a transition from light to dark, Autumn could be seen as the dusk season—imagine long amber sunlight over long dry grass, reflected in the colours of jade and jasper. Warming rituals, such as self-massage and enjoying sensory experiences, nourish our energy centres and shift our pace to align with the season.

For our friends in the Southern Hemisphere, here is our list of recommendations suggesting ways to establish routine, invigorate the senses, and connect with the earth...

[01] MAKING —

Zagorskajuha

Lucy's take on Zagorska juha (Zagorje-style soup)—a hearty soup originating from the northern Croatian region of Zagorje—is making its rounds in the office. Known for being nutrient-rich, our version combines mushrooms and spices, resulting in a vibrant and earthy brew. We've also served it cold, slathered on seed crackers the following day.

[02] MUSIC/ALBUM —

Miriam Elhajli, Live at Noguchi

Influenced by the rich musical traditions of her Venezuelan, Moroccan and North American heritage, folk singer, composer-improviser, and musicologist, Miriam Elhajli has an expressive voice that explores intriguing lyrics. Pulling together threads of jazz, 70s South American nuevo cancion, and levantine sounds, this album hums with warm, unveiled emotion, recorded live at New York's iconic Noguchi Museum.

[03] OBJECT —

Flores Paper Blocks

Sculpturally beautiful and powerfully functional, these note paper blocks are made by sisters in Los Angeles, in their father's print shop which he has owned since the 80s. Hand-printed in perfectly faded tones they're great encouragement to motivate list-writing.

[04] SEASONAL EXPERIENCE —

A haircut.

If a summer of salt, chlorine and sun has been brutal to your ends, book yourself in for a trim and refresh. The cumulative effects of a haircut are powerful for one's confidence and motivation.

[05] READING —

Helen of Nowhere, by Makenna Goodman.

Said to sharpen our attention to the world, Helen of Nowhere is an exhilarating novel about the delights and dangers of starting over. So, now that summer is through, feed your mind with a radical piece of literature to awaken a new perspective.

[06] COVETING, HOME —

La Soufflerie

Made from 100% recycled glass, shaped by breath and heat, this collection of Parisian glassware celebrates subtle variations in each of its forms.

[07] COVETING, WEAR —

Porto Pouch

We thrive with a less-is-more attitude, and gravitate towards objects that encourage the same. Heralded as 'a cloudlike shape to carry your essentials,' the Porto Pouch seems like our match made in heaven. Our hearts are on the Park Green colourway, and we'd like to fill it only with reading glasses and house key.

[08] COVETING, WEAR —

Plissé Satin Silk Tube Dress

Reminiscent of traditional origami, or Mariano Fortuny’s "Delphos" gown, the French brand Azur makes its version from 100% organic and fair trade satin silk. Artisanally hand-dyed with locally grown plants, this garment is hand-pleated one pleat at a time. The result is a singular dress with subtle hues and a unique texture.

[09] SANS RITUAL —

Boost skin hydration.

It's time to make the transition from lightweight summer products to richer, hydrating formulas that strengthen the skin barrier against cooler, drier air. We recommend a complete face and body application of CELLx 5 Lotion, to help repair UV damage and signs of sun exposure. A once-over from top to toe will leave skin feeling supple, calm, and resilient as we head into winter.

[10] FILM —

Leonora In The Morning Light

Adapted from the novel by Elena Poniatowska, Leonora in the Morning Light highlights the life of surrealist painter Leonora Carrington. Set in rural France in the 1930s, we spend time with Leonora in her world (both figurative and real), and inside the iconic farmhouse she shared with artist Max Ernst, decorated with murals and bas-reliefs – symbols of the artists and their partnership.
